Amazon Sr. Export Enablement Manager, Amazon Global Trade India in Bengaluru, India

Amazon’s Global Trade program has enabled 1,25,000 Indian exporters to cross $8 billion in cumulative exports from India that showcase crores of Made in India products today to customers across the world. The program requires an experienced Sr. Export Enablement Manager to work within the Amazon Global Trade Marketing, Partnerships and Policy Programs team, helping to build and execute impactful policy and partnerships programs.

With this role, you will join a fast growing team that looks at the big picture of the overall e-commerce exports ecosystem and drives policy and marketing efforts to make Indian sellers succeed globally. This is a unique leadership role where you would be working with multi-stakeholder team in identifying key challenges faced by exporters, articulating and influencing policies for e-commerce exports and to develop strategic partnerships and alliances across state governments, national and state level trade associations, and key industry players such as banking, compliance, VCs, educational institutions, etc.

To succeed in this role, the leader would require a deep understanding of the end-to-end regulatory environment for exports and the nuances of B2C ecommerce exports, which is an evolving area. The leader will perform critical assessment of current state of exporters landscape, identify key exporter pain points and brainstorm with leadership/internal teams to define ideal state based on business and regulatory needs. The function will analyze and provide solutions to most complex public policy issues using product and design thinking. He/she will also quantify impact, define the hypotheses and how to validate/invalidate data and results and establish mechanisms to address constraints and challenges to change.

The leader would need to value sell Amazon export programs, and articulate e-commerce export priorities that align with government priorities to run business development programs with state governments, think-tanks, trade associations, etc. He/She would also need to nurture relationships with e-commerce exports ecosystem industry players and collaborate with them to enable Amazon’s products and build innovative solutions/products to help MSMEs scale their exports businesses. Internally, the leader would need to collaborate with leaders from Marketing, Sales, Product, Public Policy, Tax, Legal and Public Relations to ensure strategic objectives of program are met.

Key job responsibilities

• Define current state of export policy landscape, identify key bottlenecks and brainstorm with leadership/internal teams to define ideal state of policy landscape and strategy through continuous benchmarking exercises that support Amazon Global Selling’s strategic objectives and business goals

• Partner with Sales, Product/Program leaders, Sellers, and external partners to identify regulatory needs and jointly develop effective solutions that meet business requirements

• Develop and lead a proactive public policy outreach program working in conjunction with public policy and other teams that earn the goodwill of governments, regulators, and sellers through supporting direct policy maker engagements by Public Policy and leading other stakeholder engagement and partnerships

• Work with BI to quantify impact of policy goals and establish mechanisms to support evidence-based policy making

• Prepare concept notes and submissions to regulatory reviews and engage in expert consultations

• Monitor the regulatory, legislative, and political horizon for relevant regulatory changes (both immediate and long-term). Work with internal stakeholders and experts to determine potential opportunities and regulatory issues arising from such changes that may impact the programs, products, and sellers

• Build partnerships with state governments, export promotion councils, trade associations, key industry partners (banks, logistics) and other institutions to drive joint goals of seller recruitment, product/business development and get alignment on policy advocacy and coalition building

• Providing internal communications of regulatory change including briefings and education

• Provide media talking points and coordinate with marketing and public relations for thought leadership

• Draft responses to public consultation papers, position papers and speaking notes for representation in conferences, panels, round tables etc

• Be the single-thread owner for holding input data providers accountable of the quality of their inputs, as well as communicating the details to downstream stakeholders, up to VP/SVP level. Own monthly reviews with VP

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional non-internship marketing experience

  • Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements

  • Experience with Excel or Tableau (data manipulation, macros, charts and pivot tables)

  • Experience building, executing and scaling cross-functional marketing programs

  • Experience communicating results to stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • • 10+ years of demonstrated capacity to build and execute public policy programs that support business growth within a dynamic and changing corporation

  • • Keen understanding of the processes of the Indian legislative and political process and an ability to analyze the impact of legislations on business and develop strategies to move interests forward

  • • Proven success in balancing multiple initiatives in a high-pressure situations in dynamic policy and commercial environments

  • • Strong analytical approach to problem solving, ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems

  • • Ability to manage and drive complex projects, and provide clear and confident guidance, including in situations of high ambiguity

  • • Experience in technology sector a plus

  • • Exhibit exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills as a foundation for building and maintaining strong relationships across external and internal stakeholders

  • • Strong drafting and negotiation skills

  • • Genuine interest in public policy, current events and the political environment

  • • Willing to travel both within India, and as necessary globally
