Boston University LEGAL INFORMATION LIBRARIAN, School of Law, Samuel M. Fineman Law Library in BOSTON, Massachusetts

Why should you want to work with us? At BU, reference librarians are integrated into the classroom from the very beginning. We teach alongside the Lawyering faculty in the yearlong 1L research and writing classes. This gives each of us a cohort of law students with whom we form lasting relationships that continue throughout their time at BU Law. We work with each other and with the Lawyering faculty to design effective, interesting, and engaging classes and exercises that ensure that our students learn what they need for their classes and for their future work as lawyers. But our time with students doesn't end after 1L year. We also teach advanced legal research classes for credit as well as in our popular Legal Research Certificate program. Okay, but it can't all be teaching, right? Correct! We also support our incredible faculty in their scholarship by providing excellent research, RA training, in-class trainings, and other research support for their classes and clinics. We staff a virtual reference desk and chat line, providing answers to law community members who have questions on everything from citation format to the new summer associate who is panicking about their first assignment. We are each a liaison to one of BU's journals where we conduct trainings and meet with each student individually on their note topic and research. Whatever our folks need, we are here to help! Who would you get to work with? In the Research Services Department we work collaboratively to plan classes, test out new ideas (we even celebrate taking big swings that don't turn into homeruns), and support each other to make sure we not only provide the best teaching and research we possibly can, but also to ensure that when life crops up we truly have each others backs. We are a group who enjoys working with each other and who excels at finding humor in our job every single day. We also have exceptional colleagues, a wonderful Dean, and charming Director who go out of their way to help us succeed.
