  • Engage, influence, and collaborate with business leaders to support their strategic talent needs which ensures the successful accomplishment of American’s mission.

  • Responsible for assisting in the design, development and implementation of Compensation policies, structures, and practices.

What you'll do

  • Serve as critical resource to all levels of management and other People team members regarding salaries for new hires, promotions, transfers, and compensation analysis

  • Market prices jobs and performs benchmark analyses to determine Company’s competitiveness in the marketplace

  • Examine compensation trends and develop recommendations supporting business initiatives

  • Effectively analyzes and uses data to provide critical insights to stakeholders on an ad-hoc basis

  • Conducts job evaluations, creates/maintains job codes, and writes and edits job descriptions as needed

  • Prepares and maintains job descriptions for each position in your organization, ensuring descriptions accuracy for the work being performed by team member

  • Implements and administers compensation policies, programs, and procedures to streamline processes and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements

  • Develop analyses, recommendations, and implementation of Compensation related activities such as merit planning and administration, salary structure movement, and incentive plan development

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

  • Occasional travel required to represent the Company at industry conferences or to engage with business leaders, Compensation and People team counterparts

All you'll need for success

Minimum Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience/training

  • 3-4 years of compensation experience

  • Work experience in an analytical or quantitative role

Preferred Qualifications - Education & Prior Job Experience

  • Experience in executive compensation

  • Experience with market pricing, job evaluations, and conducting salary analyses

  • Advanced Excel skills

Skills, Licenses & Certifications

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.

  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills

  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects concurrently

  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and objectivity

  • Ability to apply appropriate judgment and discretion in completing work assignments

  • Expectation to maintain confidentiality of employee compensation data

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and provide excellent customer service

  • Detail-oriented with ability to work in fast-paced environment
