    Since 2011, Raytheon Australia have been contracted to deliver facilities services in support of the Harold E. Holt (HEH) Defence Precinct in Exmouth, Western Australia. Home to the Space Surveillance Telescope (SST), the C-Band Radar and Very Low Frequency (VLF) radio transmission capability, together these systems add a critical contribution to Australia's space domain awareness and battlespace awareness missions.

The role:

To support our mission, Raytheon Australia is currently seeking a motivated individual who is ready to work with a diverse, talented, and enthusiastic team on-site in Exmouth WA. If you are ready for the next step in your career and wanting a sea change, then this role is for you.

Reporting to the VLF Operations & Maintenance Manager you will be required to supervise a team of electronic technicians to operate, troubleshoot and maintain the VLF transmitter subsystem, including all telecommunications facilities, systems and equipment. We are looking for a dedicated and motivated professional who is keen to establish themselves within the business and drive efficiencies within the team.

Your responsibilities will ensure the delivery of reliable mission system transmission on a 24/7 basis. This includes the day-to-day coordination, management, planning, development, and testing of the transmitter and associated equipment ensuring all activities are conducted safely and in accordance with relevant policies, systems, and schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the FRT/67 VLF T/R system and VLF resources to achieve contract on-air performance targets IAW with contract KPI 1.

  • Provide subject matter expertise advice to the NCS HEH team, both Commonwealth and contractor, for the VLF T/R System in relation to tasks, projects, and operations.

  • Provide effective safety leadership through a positive reporting culture. · Provide supervision, coaching and development recommendations to team members.

  • Oversee and effectively plan preventative and corrective maintenance activities, and ensure compliance with the approved procedures, directives, processes, and policies.

  • Actively engage in daily operations to resolve complex technical problems. · Provide strong and effective leadership and ensure maintenance and operational personnel are appropriately trained, authorised and aware of their responsibilities.

  • Develop and submit key activity and status reports as required and ensure maintenance errors are effectively investigated and reported.

  • Develop and implement approaches, tools, templates, and processes, as well as identify and develop opportunities for improving maintenance techniques and procedures.

    You will have:

  • Certificate III or IV or equivalent in electronics, communications or engineering discipline.

  • Minimum 3-4 years' experience in a Communications related trade or equivalent.

  • Previous experience working on High Power Transmitters.

  • Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and ladder logic diagnostics.

  • Strong knowledge and experience of PC hardware, networking & peripheral computing equipment including data networks.

  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Eligibility can be found at http://www.defence.gov.au/agsva
