Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Manages the electronic compilation of revenue overages and shortages on a monthly basis for bus ticket agents for assigned locations and provides an applicable aging schedule.

  • Manages and documents detailed daily audit procedures, which allow for the most productive use of resources.

  • Keeps abreast of current and new trends. methodologies, and utilizes this technical experience to provide guidance to other Finance personnel on revenue operations and the appropriate applicability of these technologies to solve business problems.

  • Addresses internal and external requests for informational reports, determining the suitability, analyzing data and creating various reporting facilities.

  • Interacts with other Revenue Managers and Finance personnel in establishing common accounting policy and financial goals and objectives. Oversee the completion of required account reconciliations on a monthly basis.

  • Assists in the overall preparation of monthly line statistics which consists of accumulating revenue and ridership data for all NJ TRANSIT locations.

  • Assists in planning, testing, and evaluating the integration and conversion of a new bus revenue system utilized in automating data collection and financial reporting processes.

  • Oversees payments/reimbursements to third parties on a monthly basis for the value of tickets and passes made on behalf of NJ TRANSIT

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

This Position Supervises:

  • Principal Accountant

  • Agreement Clerks

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related area.

  • Six (6) years of progressively responsible applied experience in financial management, accounting and/or financial analysis, to include managerial/supervisory experience.

  • One year of closely related experience can be substituted for each year of education required.

Preferred

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

  • Experience developing and analyzing financial analysis and data for senior management desired.

  • MBA or Master’s Degree desired.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of GAAP and GAAS required.

  • Ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment.

  • Must be detailed oriented with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines.

  • Self-motivated and independent thinker.

  • Ability to work well with a team.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced proficiency in MS Excel experience and Word.
