The Arc Eastern Connecticut Residential Manager in Norwich, Connecticut

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Residential Manager is responsible for assuring that programs are person centered and inclusive. Provides supervision and training to assigned staff. The Residential Manager is responsible for the compliance and adherence of the policies established by The Arc Eastern Connecticut as well as the regulated and administrative requirements as prescribed by the State of Connecticut.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensures an environment that encourages personal growth and empowerment of the residents of the home.

  • Ensures quality resident care, medical and programmatic.

  • Prepares, implements, and maintains resident programs as outlined in the Individual Plan.

  • Ensures all required documentation for licensing and the agency is completed in a timely fashion.

  • Maintains resident files in a manner outlined by agency policy and licensing regulation.

  • Interfaces with day programs, parents/guardians, DDS, and other agencies as appropriate.

  • Ensures compliance of DDS Licensing Regulation.

  • Ensures compliance of agency Policy and Procedure.

  • Interviews, trains, supervises and discipline Direct Support Professionals.

  • Maintains certification in CPR and Medication Administration, passes medications.

  • Monitors medication administration by Life Skills instructors.

  • Implement, train, and follow a behavior support plan that may include a restraint component.

  • Ability to drive the agency vehicle.

  • Coordinates and ensures maintenance of agency property including the residence, lawn, vehicle, furnishing and appliances.

  • Works with other managers in peer mentoring and peer quality assurance.

  • Available by mobile phone.

  • All other tasks as required by the agency, resident needs or as directed by the CEO.

  • Educates community officials about The Arc services.

  • Collaborates with other programs to assure quality service.

  • Provides technical support and training to staff.

  • Maintains car insurance coverage.

  • Monitors staff possession of valid driver’s licenses.

  • Attends staff meetings, management meeting, and in service meetings as required.

    EXPECTATIONS:

  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with participants, their families, and providers.

  • Responds to needs of participants, families, and providers in a timely and professional manner.

  • Demonstrates a positive work ethic.

  • Can work with limited supervision.

  • Advocates for and protect participants’ rights in accordance with The Arc policies and procedures.

  • Treats all individuals in an age-appropriate manner, with respect and dignity, and to encourage opportunities that promote choice.

  • Maintains a mature and positive attitude when dealing with program participants, staff, families, the public, and outside representatives.

  • Works with a spirit of cooperation with all departments.

  • Carries out all job responsibilities in a professional manner.

  • Maintains attendance. Adheres to policies on attendance, days of absence, and illness.

  • Keep records, conversations, and correspondence concerning staff and program participants confidential.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED (General Equivalency Diploma) required. Bachelor's or Associate degree is preferred.

  • Minimum of two years’ supervisory experience in health/human service field and a minimum of three years’ experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities and autism. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and training is acceptable.

  • Residential manager must have a valid driver’s license. He/she must keep this license up to date for the duration of their employment. Proficiency in Microsoft work suite is required.

    REQUIRED TRAINING:

  • Will participate in all DDS and The Arc Eastern Connecticut trainings as required by policy.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Will be required to participate in lifts, transfers, and behavioral or physical intervention during unusual or emergency situations. May be exposed to risk of injury or exposure to occupational health hazards.
