Accounting Manager – Assistant Controller

San Francisco FiDi –

M-W in SF office, Th/Fri home. Whole month of August is remote

$140-180k + Bonus + 100% paid benefits + Profit Sharing plan!

What we need: To continue this rapid growth trajectory, we are hiring an Assistant Controller to work with the Finance and Operations team. This person will help lead deal execution, finance, accounting, operations, compliance, and back-office functions of the firm. This role provides a very rare opportunity to become only one of two finance and operations professionals at a rapidly growing and very lean asset management firm quickly establishing itself as one of the leading emerging venture capital managers.

    Requirements

Responsibilities and Duties:

● Assist with the financial oversight of the firm

○ Our Firm outsources all accounting work to third party firms. We have a fund administrator for our funds, special purpose vehicles and an accounting firm for the GP entities and management company. You will oversee each of these accountants on a daily basis on things like: capital calls, paying management fees, cash reconciliation, and bill pay.

○ You will maintain shadow books of our firm and reconcile to the books and records maintained by third-party service accountants.

○ You will also assist in maintaining our financial model at the management level, oversee the annual audits, maintain the Schedule of Investments for each fund, and work with our fund administrator to ensure accurate quarterly financial statements.

○ You will maintain the portfolio company data collection and monitoring tool to support investment decision making

● Support the Investment team on investment due diligence

○ Coordinate and manage outsourced third-party financial and legal due diligence firms to conduct diligence on target portfolio companies

● Develop Finance as a Service to our Portfolio Companies

○ Strategize, create and implement a finance portfolio support service alongside the firm’s Finance and Operations team

● Support the Finance and Operations team on day to day operational activities including:

○ Maintain firm’s compliance manual, training and implementation

○ Maintain the firm’s compliance monitoring services

○ Liaise with the firm’s outsourced Human Resources team to maintain compliance with local and federal employment laws and regulations

● Tax optimization

○ We also want this person to implement the firm's tax optimization strategy alongside the Director of Finance and Operations.

Keys:

  • Ideally you have 5-10 years of Fund Accounting, detail review or financial statements and ability to help manage the Fund reporting function.

  • Degree in Accounting, Business, or Econ.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment

  • Excellent time management / organizational skills

  • Must be flexible and have the desire to be involved in a wide variety of accounting and finance projects and assignments.
