Description

Summary

The Donation Program Manager is responsible for the development and maintenance donation programs at assigned hospitals to ensure the increase of organ and tissue donation in our service area.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Develops and fosters effective relationships with individuals and departments within assigned hospitals who have the influence and passion to drive change both proactively and in the moment.

  2. Utilizes industry, organizational, and departmental data sets, in addition to anecdotal observations, to create and implements annual strategic plans for assigned hospitals focused on proactive development opportunities and behavior change that will further our organizational mission and vision. Plans include precise goals and objectives in accordance with our organizational strategicplan, Association for Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO) standards, and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) guidelines.

  3. Uses creative problem solving to refine and improve processes that will increase donation outcomes.

  4. Serves as a knowledgeable resource and subject matter expert regarding organ and tissue donation for assigned hospitals, including assistance with policy development related to organ and tissue donation and assistance with ensuring hospital remains in compliance with CMS and accrediting agency regulations. Identifies the need for and utilizes appropriate SHSC staff as a resource in the development process.

  5. Serves as a knowledgeable resource and subject matter expert regarding assigned hospitals for internal partners, including proactive and reactive assistance an intervention to ensure the best possible donation outcomes.

  6. Completes documentation related to hospital activity and process improvement efforts in compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

  7. Collaborates with hospital partners to provide thorough and effective donation education to all levels of hospital personnel and physician staff involved in the referral of potential organ and tissue donors.

  8. Solicits, schedules, and manages ad-hoc and routine meetings related specifically to organ and tissue donation as needed to meet strategic plan goals and objectives, and to address needs related to the hospital’s donation program. Identifies and secures invitations to relevant hospital meetings toensure SHSC is seen as a member of the hospital care team and is up to date on hospital operational changes that impact donation.

  9. Conducts timely follow-up efforts for all organ and tissue donor cases, both internally and externally, to identify opportunities for improvement and to recognize and celebrate accomplishments and collaborative efforts.

  10. Conducts timely and thorough follow-up for donation process variances identified through medical record reviews per organizational policies and procedures, including the communication and development of corrective action plans matching the severity of variance.

  11. Assists with medical record reviews, as requested.

  12. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications, Education & Experience BS degree;Three (3) years of experience in marketing, education, and/or healthcare;Ability to utilize interpersonal communication skills to develop relationships at all levels within the hospital;Experience with strategic planning;Ability to analyze and interpret data;Knowledge of medical terminology preferred;Strong public speaking skills, or;An equivalent combination of education and experience.
