This position serves our partners at Minnesota’s largest state agency, the Department of Human Services (DHS). The MNIT DHS team supports complex and varied technical needs, including systems that provide health care coverage, deliver child protection and welfare services, and provide support for Minnesotans with special needs including mental illness, chemical dependencies, and physical or developmental disabilities.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced software IT Quality Assurance Analyst to join our dynamic Salesforce product team. As an Advanced Quality Assurance Analyst, you will focus on substantially improving and integrating the information technology transformation for many services at the Department of Human Services by providing confidence while boosting satisfaction through transparency, efficiency, and consistency.

The primary responsibility of this role is to perform comprehensive software quality assurance/quality control testing and analysis, along with following the defect process. The successful candidate will play a key role in understanding organizational structures, policies, and operations to ensure end users are successful in using the state IT products that utilize Salesforce.

You will provide professional knowledge, skills, and leadership in the Salesforce product team. This role includes skills, activities, practices, tools, and deliverables applied at every phase of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) or Product Lifecycle, which ensures that the software solution will be designed, tested, implemented, and operationally supported to meet the specified requirements. You will be relied upon to promote and continually improve appropriate testing methodologies while striving to ensure adherence to service levels and optimize application functional performance prior to deployment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and approve requirements that define and document business processes through software and data management systems utilizing Salesforce.

  • Create quality assurance documentation that provides transparency to the work effort of the quality assurance team: test strategy, test plan, test suite, test cases, execution records, defect reporting, defect retesting, test status, test summary.

  • Collaborate with team members throughout the product or operations lifecycle.

  • Work closely with business partners to ensure their needs are implemented in system changes and releases.

  • Practice quality assurance best practices.

This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:

  • Telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.

  • Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume:

This position requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience in performing software quality assurance/quality control functions. Software IT quality assurance experience must be within the past two (2) years.

Experience must include:

  • Two (2) years of software testing experience with complex or enterprise systems such as Salesforce, SAP, Oracle, and/or Microsoft Dynamics.

  • Creating business relevant documentation: test strategies, test plans, test cases, and other technical documentation.

  • Participating in formal review and approval of business/functional requirements and application design.

  • Coordinating test schedules; managing the progress of all test activities against the test plan, while also executing testing tasks, such as those for functional, data management, and/or regression by following QA best practices in all areas of testing.

  • Experience with communicating clearly in writing and orally, presenting complex information to users in a comprehensive style, and translating technical and system information to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.

A master’s degree in Information Technology or an IT related field substitutes for three (3) years of experience, OR an IT related bachelor’s degree substitutes for two (2) years, OR an IT related associate’s degree substitutes for one (1) year.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Salesforce certification (e.g., Certified Administrator, Certified Advanced Administrator).

  • Three (3) or more years’ experience working with Salesforce functionalities, capabilities, and executing Salesforce implementations.

  • Working knowledge of the mission, goals, objectives, and priorities of MNIT and agency partners—specifically, DHS and MNsure.

  • Experience with transforming approved requirements into test cases and executing tests to ensure the product meets the approved requirements.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with problem definition, information gathering and research, root cause analysis, and determining and/or applying creative solutions to problems in a timely manner.

  • Developing, maintaining, and executing complex Structured Query Language (SQL) queries and writing SQL or SOQL scripts.

  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and plan for testing milestones so that identified goals are properly achieved.

  • Proven experience working directly with Project Managers, Business Analysts, Developers, Database Administrators, and Quality Assurance Analysts in an Information Technology environment.
